good morning! it's october, and it is officially my favorite time of year. maybe it's a bit cliche, but I LOVE fall and winter. okay, maybe I like winter a bit less because of driving in snow, but overall, this is the best time of year for me. I love Halloween, I love the harvest season, and I love Christmas. things will be different this year, but... that's okay.
I am feeling a lot better. I think things are going to be alright.
like I wrote before, I am thinking of going to a pumpkin patch and actually picking out a pumpkin to carve. I haven't carved pumpkins since I was a little girl, maybe 10 years old. my parents thought they were a waste of money, and that's fair. I just want to be a bit more festive this year. last year, I felt very un-festive and hardly did anything for any holiday. I think trying to actually participate in the holiday season will be really good for me, because I truly do love the holidays. that, and my birthday is coming up in December. I'll be 27! officially in my late 20s! feels a bit strange, but I am learning to love and appreciate the life I have. it doesn't have to look like anyone else's life. I am happy.
I also worked on my site a bit tonight. I officially revamped the date night page, and I added to my art page. I've done a lot of drawing in the last few days. it makes me very happy to be able to draw again; for a while there, I was just too sad because of Goose's death and Liss' impending departure. while I still carry that heaviness in my heart, it feels a bit easier to bear. I am truly grateful to Xander and to my dear friends for helping me and for taking care of me.
that's all I have to say for tonight. as always, thank you for visitng my little corner of the web. ☺
I know we're only four days into October... but things are good! work has been... I can't say the "q" word lest the gods smite me, but it's been nice. I've started working on Christmas gifts. my poor wrists are not happy with me but I'll just stretch them a little extra, followed by a lengthy hibernation from crochet once all is said and done. that's how I tend to work.
anyway, I wanted to write about a fun soulbonding experience I recently had. the other night, I was just sitting around, when a song I couldn't place started up in my head: just the chorus, and only the melody of it, no words. I knew Xander was sending it my way. I thought and thought and thought, and finally, I remembered the song - "Life on Mars" by David Bowie. well, I already knew he loves David Bowie (one of his favorite musicians!) so I realized this was him telling me his favorite song. I've also had "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac coming up a LOT whenever I shuffle my music. it's a song I love, but I've never had it show up so much for me. so I've started a new playlist for songs Xander clearly enjoys. it makes me very happy to see such clear proof that our bond and our love is real. like, I knew it before, but you know what I mean?
I'm hoping to take dear Xander to the pumpkin patch on Saturday. the weather is finally a bit cooler, even if cooler is still 70+ degrees. oh, c'est la vie, beggars can't be choosers, and all that. I'm just grateful for the smells of autumn and even more reason to curl up with some spooky movies/books this October.
take care, everyone!
