♡ name: Alexander Adam "Xander" Thane (his family refers to him as "Al," which he dislikes)
♡ age: 30, September 5
♡ pronouns: he/him
♡ height/weight: 5’11”/175 lbs (180 cm/79 kg)
♡ family: Millicent "Millie" Thane (wife); Grezzo (father-in-law); parents; siblings Jonathan (elder), Abigail, Timothy, and Tiffany (younger)

Xander was born into a wealthy Southern family. The second eldest of his siblings, he had a bit more leeway in his destiny as compared to his eldest brother, Jonathan. He took an early interest in hunting and horseback riding. Xander also enjoyed looking after the family's animals; he took great pride in the horses' and dogs' appearances.
It wasn't until his teen years that Xander began to be interested in science in medicine. After witnessing a carriage accident and helping pull survivors from the wreckage, he decided his goal was to become a doctor.
He enrolled in medical school soon after, but had to take a year-long break following an accident. Xander was thrown from his horse and broke his hip, giving him a lifelong limp. Occasionally, he would need a wheelchair to move around; by the time of the game's events, he needed it only on his worst days.
After graduating medical school, he was briefly engaged, but the engagement was called off as quickly as it was announced. Xander, being an eligible and quite handsome bachelor, was never without admirers of all genders, but he considered himself far too busy for love.
At the age of 29, Xander was called to the city of Gloomwood following a plague outbreak. Eager for a challenge, he headed to the city. He met a young lady named Millie at a chapel, and became smitten with her gentle demeanor. Xander asked her to help him get around the city and assist with examinations in order to get closer to her.
Admittedly, the stress of the plague being utterly bizarre and incurable began to take its toll on Xander. He struggled with depression, but the death of a little girl who reminded him of his beloved sisters renewed his vow to save lives. He attempted to leave the city in order to bring back more help, but was intercepted by the Huntsmen and captured.
While on the hunt for the city's seals, he realized just how much he truly loved Millie, and asked her to marry him. He drafted a will for her to take with her should he not return, instructing his family to treat her as his widow. Luckily, Xander was able to defeat the evils lurking in the city, and he and Millie left and married soon after.
Xander can come across as a bit haughty due to his social status. Sometimes, he lacks perspective on what it's like to come from a poorer part of the world, and thus, he can seem a bit dense and rude. He never means to be, though, and his natural charisma and easy smile mean any faux pas are quickly forgiven.
He is a very forward man and never hesitates to say what's on his mind. He enjoys teasing Millie just to see her blush.
Xander's forwardness sometimes puts him at odds with his father-in-law, Grezzo. When he first arrived at the Emerald Eye, Xander and Grezzo got into an argument because Grezzo tended to talk over Millie, who is rather passive and not confident in herself. The doctor encouraged Millie to stand up for herself and voice her thoughts, at one point telling Grezzo after he talked over Millie, "I wasn't asking you. Shut up and let Millie talk."
His forward nature also causes conflict with Millie sometimes; however, this has lessened due to them talking it over and understanding one another further. Xander continues to encourage Millie to say what she's thinking, and she has found her voice thanks to Xander.
Further, his impulsivity can cause problems. Xander tends to think first and ask questions later, while Millie is more careful and thinks deeply about how her actions might or might not affect others. Xander's impulsivity can lead to conflicts which might not have happened had he stopped to think; while Millie can be completely paralyzed by indecision. The couple has learned to take a moment to talk things through, even if Xander is itching for action and Millie feels overwhelmed by choice.
When they first had arguments, Xander would insist on hashing things out right then, which upset Millie further -- she has a strong involuntary crying response and would burst into tears. He quickly figured out that giving Millie time to collect herself led to a more productive conversation after, as neither could stay angry for too long.
Xander shows his affection through giving gifts and physical affection. He loves to cuddle and can't fall asleep at night unless he's holding Millie.
Xander is now very understanding toward his wife's needs, and does his best to care for her. If Millie seems overwhelmed, he takes her to a quiet room to relax; if she cries, he asks what she needs in the moment, and gladly gives it to her, whether it be a big hug, a warm meal, or leaving her alone in a quiet place to self-soothe.
Overall, he is a curious, intelligent, passionate, loving man.
♡ name: Millicent Anne “Millie” Thane (neé Halloran)
♡ age: 26, December 14
♡ pronouns: she/her
♡ height/weight: 4’11”/155 lbs (150 cm/70 kg)
♡ family: Alexander “Xander” Thane (husband); Grezzo (father)
Millie Halloran was born to a travelling merchant woman whom the Emerald Eye's proprietor had an affair with. At the time, Grezzo and Countess Sylvia were already at odds; fearing for his daughter's safety, Grezzo took her the local orphanage, where she was raised.
Occasionally, Millie would go into town for errands. Grezzo, seeing an opportunity to be in his daughter's life, started giving Millie tasks to do for him -- get his laundry, fetch him a pastry, mind the store while he ran out. Millie grew quite close to the merchant, though his sharp personality sometimes left her not knowing where she stood with him.
She always felt quite lonely, having been told that she was born to outsiders who died in the city's walls. Millie was always treated as a outsider, and had no friends other than Grezzo.
Countess Sylvia’s machinations finally came to a head, and a plague began to spread through Gloomwood. Grezzo used some of his magic to protect Millie from the sickness.
Doctor Alexander Thane was called upon by civilians to treat the sick; when he arrived, he met Millie at a local church. The two formed a bond through Millie supplying the doctor information about the town and assisting him with his examinations. The two frequently spent time together in town, going to dinner and bonding over their status as outsiders.
Eventually, Xander was kidnapped when he attempted to escape the town. Grezzo freed him, and then called on Millie to come to The Emerald Eye for safety. The merchant used his magic to protect Millie on her way to the shop.
Millie and Xander began a romantic relationship soon after, much to Grezzo’s chagrin. The merchant did tell Millie her parentage before she and Xander left Gloomwood after the events of the game.
Millie and Xander married right after escaping the city. While she typically spent her days as a housewife, Millie sometimes served as a nurse at Xander's practice, gladly assisting him with patients and minor surgeries.
